Before
- Tell us if you're pregnant or nursing, are taking Accutane, or have a breakout or skin infection in the area; you'll need to wait. Also tell us if you have a history of cold sores. Avoid sunburn and tanning for 2 weeks before, and stop retinol and other strong skincare 3–5 days before. Come with clean skin.

During
- The treatment itself usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. We apply a numbing cream about 45–60 minutes beforehand, and you can also have nitrous oxide to stay comfortable. Your provider moves the handpiece across the area, and tiny needles deliver radiofrequency heat under the skin. You'll feel heat and prickling, which the numbing cream takes the edge off.

After
- You may see a little pinpoint bleeding for a few minutes afterward. In most patients, skin is red and feels warm for 1–2 days. Swelling usually settles within a day or two. Most people return to work the day after treatment. Only use the skin products your provider recommends after the procedure, to avoid potential complications. New collagen builds over several weeks, and a series of 3 treatments is recommended for the full result.
